Addiction to Exercise

I have been a big athlete for a lot of my life and I can say that I enjoyed the feeling after a long bike ride or a big day of skiing.  It has been a while since I have “gone the distance,” but I still come back from a bike ride with that similar feeling.  Now that I understand we have an endocannabinoid system and Adiponectin (a protein hormone) which communicates what is going on in our body is responsible for quite a few things. Ones of them is that adiponectin helps in mitigating the inflamatory process in the body by suppressing “cytokines,” which create inflammation and are triggered by the immune or nervous system.

Are we forgetting a simple concept of hydraulics? What if all we are doing by moving our bodies around is pumping our cerebral fluid through its channels allowing the endocannabinoids to travel to their required receptors?

Endorphin-fueled ‘runner’s high’ is taken as fact in the gym world. But is it?

“… research identifies substances in the body that are more like the active ingredient in cannibis as the possible cause of the euphoria.”
